A Master Model is created with all part features and finishing details to be reflected in the mold.
A fast curing silicone rubber mold is produced using the Master Model as a pattern.
ARRK injects our two-part urethanes into the mold inside vacuum pressure chambers.
Cured parts removed from the mold precisely and consistently duplicate the master model.

CREATING CUSTOM MANUFACTURED URETHANE CASTINGS

Firstly, a master model is either 3D printed or CNC machined based on the 3D CAD model of the part to be casted. The latter being a better choice due to the improved strength and accuracy of the master produced. Next, liquid silicone rubber is poured around the master model covering the entire part and creating a rectangular rubber mould when the silicone rubber sets and hardens. The rubber mould is then split into cavity and core halves and the master is then removed, leaving a void where several materials can be introduced for casting.
Due to the soft and flexible nature of the silicone moulds, part designs generally do not require draft angles and cast parts can be easily removed reliably multiple times. Undercuts and fine details can be addressed by using mould inserts where necessary. While a silicone mould wears out faster then its steel counterpart, it is vastly more cost effective for lower volume prototype parts with compatible production quality and finish.
